UNS N06600 Corrosion-Resistant Alloy: Properties and Applications

​UNS N06600 is a nickel-chromium-iron alloy with excellent corrosion resistance to a range of environments, including oxidizing and reducing acid solutions, saltwater, and caustic alkalis. It is also resistant to stress-corrosion cracking and carburization in high-temperature applications.
 
Chemical Composition:
Nickel (Ni) - 72%
Chromium (Cr) - 15-17%
Iron (Fe) - 6-10%
Carbon (C) - 0.15% max
Manganese (Mn) - 1% max
Silicon (Si) - 0.5% max
Sulfur (S) - 0.015% max
Phosphorus (P) - 0.015% max
 
Impact Temperature:
UNS N06600 can withstand impact at temperatures ranging from -196°C to 980°C (-320°F to 1800°F).
 
Mechanical Properties:
- Tensile strength: 550 MPa (80 ksi) minimum
- Yield strength: 240 MPa (35 ksi) minimum
- Elongation: 30% minimum
- Hardness: 65 HRB maximum
 
Heat Treatment:
UNS N06600 can be solution annealed at 1010-1150°C (1850-2100°F) and then quenched in water or rapidly cooled by other means.

UNS N06600 can be supplied in various forms, including bars, sheets, plates, pipes, and fittings. The typical sizes range from 0.5mm to 200mm in diameter or thickness.
